Hairy Biker's Yule Log recipe?
Christmas: Hairy Biker's Special, they did a fantastic Christmas cake that I really want do. Does anyone know the recipe they followed, I can not find anywhere on the BBC website. Thank you!
I think I have found. Here it is: Ingredients: butter, for greasing 5 free-range eggs 140g/5oz caster sugar 100g / 3 ½ oz self-raising 35g flour / 1 ½ oz cocoa powder 100ml / 3 ½ fl oz apricot jam, melted over medium heat with a little water For the icing: 150g/5oz dark chocolate, least 70 percent cocoa solids 80g/3oz unsalted butter 300g/10 ½ oz icing sugar, sifted 75ml oz / 2 ¾ fl whole milk 1. Preheat oven to 180C/350C/Gas 4. Grease a 30 x 40cm/12 x 15in Swiss roll tin with butter and greaseproof paper wallpaper. 2. For the Swiss roll, to approximate a little water to simmer in the bottom of a skillet, then suspend a bowl resistant to heat water. (Do not leave the base of the bowl touch water.) 3. Place eggs and sugar in bowl and whisk for 8-10 minutes, or until pale and fluffy. 4. Add self-increase flour and cocoa powder and fold and mix well. 5. Pour the mixture into the Swiss roll pan, then transfer to the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cake springs back when pressed with a finger. 6. Turn the Swiss roll out on a sheet of greaseproof paper, then roll up and set aside for at least an hour in the fridge. 7. For frosting, suspend a bowl heat resistant separated on the pan of simmering water, ensuring the base of the bowl does not touch the water. 8. Add chocolate and butter and stir until melted, shiny and mix well. 9. Add icing sugar and beat until well blended. 10. Add milk, then cool. 11. To serve, pull down the Swiss Roll, spread one third of the icing on it in an even layer, then roll it again. 12. Cut a slice diagonally at one end of the roll of Switzerland and reserve. 13. Place Swiss roll into the center of a serving plate and spread with one third of the cherry on top. 14. Paste the reserved sponge falls diagonally on top of the Swiss roll to resemble a branch. 15. Brush the "Branch" part of the Yule log throughout with melted jam and cover with the third remaining ice. 16. Run a fork up and down the frosting until the glaze resembles the bark of trees. 17. Dust, the Yule log with cocoa powder and icing sugar. I hope it's the right recipe!
