When it comes to food in the Philippines, it has all – a fabulous mix of international cuisine in addition to his own mouth-watering mouth.
Background
As a result of its unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures and cuisine, the Philippines is considered as a melting pot of Asia. Food of the Philippines is the result of Malay, Spanish, and Chinese influences dating back more than 400 years. These influences, combined with Filipino ingenuity, have created an array of food that is totally different from that of neighboring Asian countries like Thailand, China, Korea and Japan.
Some people say that Filipino food is bland by comparison with other Asian food, especially foods hot and spicy Thai. However, removing the hot spices Filipino food can develop its delicious taste, not the arrogant, eye-watering sting red pepper. The sweetness of the Filipino food makes it suitable for those who appreciate and sensitive taste buds.
Filipinos love to eat and, like other Asian countries, rice is the staple food and is served with most meals. Filipinos usually eat three main meals day more tea in the morning and afternoon, called merienda which literally means "snack". These "snacks" are however often filling the main meals.
In the Philippines, one can not escape the temptations of food, you are literally surrounded by it. Wander through a beach and chances are you'll find vendors selling everything from barbecue sticks to Balut – boiled unhatched chicken or duck eggs.
Filipino Restaurants come in many forms, from small stalls at the roadside or a canteen for the great restaurants like the market for seafood in Ermita where you choose not only your seafood, but also how you want it cooked.
Regional varieties
Several regions the Philippines are famous for specific foods: Bicol is famous for its Bicol Express, a pork dish of fire for its Pampanga Tocino, honey-cured pork; Leyte for its glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves (although it is practiced throughout the Philippines now). If you travel to different regions in the Philippines, it will pay to sample the local specialties – you will be pleasantly surprised.
Main Dishes
Many the dishes are named to describe how they are cooked. For example adobo is meat cooked in vinegar and garlic; is kilawin seafood, sinigang is sour soup.
Here are a few Filipino pleasures of food:
Adobo: probably the most popular dish in the Philippines. It is pork and / or chicken (sometimes seafood and vegetables) cooked in vinegar and spices.
Arroz Caldo: Version Chinese Filipino Congee – thick rice soup with chicken and seasoned with ginger and garlic. It is usually served with a dash of calamansi.
Bangus: the National Fish of the Philippines, milkfish. It is usually grilled and is often served bone.
Bulalo: Bone-in queue Beef marrow and vegetables.
Stew: stew of goat meat.
Pancit canton: noodles with pork and vegetables.
Tinola Chicken: chicken stewed with ginger, onions and garlic and served with vegetables.
Sinigang: sour soup with tamarind and patis (fish sauce). The soup can be either vegetable, meat or seafood
Lechon SA Kawal: fried pork.
Crispy Pata: Deep Fried Ham with a very crispy skin.
Kinilaw: seafood, marinated with either vinegar or calamansi juice.
And of course there are the famous Filipino dessert. Here are a few:
Halo-halo: (known as Queen dessert) – with an exotic blend of fruits, vegetables, coconut, all stacked in colorful shaved ice and topped with a date of birth ice cream.
Bibingka: a popular dessert of pudding rice, sugar and coconut milk.
Cassava Cake: made from pounded cassava, a starchy root like a sweet potato.
Cuisine around the world
The Philippines also showcase the cuisine of world. You do not have to go far to find food from other Asian countries as well as the best in Europe, America and even Australia.
And the Philippines have not missed the fast food chains either. Here you will find McDonald's and KFC in the Philippines longer own chain of fast food, Jollibee. Jollibee is an American style fast food chain, a combination of pseudo McDonald's and KFC, but leans toward traditional Filipino flavors.
And there is a Max's Restaurant – "The House That Fried Chicken Built" – which existed since 1945, longer than the KFC franchise.
So there you have it! In the Philippines, it has everything … a rich history, nightlife, islands tropical white sand beaches, great cuisine, and even the Western fast food chains.
All this awaits you just around the corner. Come find out now!
If you are looking for the true taste of Philippine food you can do no better than holiday at Bali Hai Beach Resort in La Union, Philippines.
Happy holiday! Happy eating!

Freeze Apple pie filling?
Okay I have 2 buckets of apples that I need to do something. I want to make pie filling. I Was this http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Apple-Pie-Filling/Detail.aspx Online Recipes from Leary I'm always trying new things and above amounts mass. So I suppose if I get this pie filling made; Does anyone have any good suggestions about the freeze? Like how should I put in I freeze each container to make 1 pie, what type of containers, etc. Anyone with experience please reply. Thank you!
Recipe recommended to divide the recipe in 5 containers. Each of these should make a pie. I would buy the "Rubbermaid" or "Tupperware" type container for the long-term storage. Bags of Ziploc-type freezer is ok for a month or two, however. Bert
