When I was a child growing up on the family farm small dairy farm in Wisconsin, before there were things like instant cocoa drink is and my mother and my sister is hot chocolate.

– From sugar 1 / 2 cup
– Cocoa 1 / 3 cup
– Pinch of salt
– 1 1 / 2 cups water
– 4 cups milk
– 1 / 4-1 / 2 tsp teaspoon vanilla

Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in a saucepan. Gradually stir in water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for several minutes. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil, but hardly a boil. Stir in vanilla.

Beat with hand mixer before serving.

If a sweet drink is desired, add another tablespoon coffee sugar after it has been poured into a cup.

Instant Cocoa Mix

Christmas (or birthday gift) idea: Put the cocoa mixture in jars or cans of beer half-pint. Set the lids on the jars. Place a square of fabric with a pattern of rent (or model) on her on the cover. Screw the ring. Tie a ribbon around the lid of the jar. This recipe makes about four quarts.

6 cups dry skim milk

1 cup cocoa powder

2 cups sugar

Measure all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Stir until well blended. Store in a covered container.

Use 2-4 tablespoons of the mixture (to taste) a cup or a mug of hot water.

Russian Tea

1 cup of orange drink powder
1 cup sugar
1 tsp teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 / 2 teaspoon cloves
1 / 2 cup instant tea

Mix dry ingredients. Store container in a pot or other object. Use 2 spoons coffee per cup of hot water (or to taste).

Gift idea: You can also put the recycling or Russian Russian Tea quarter pint or half pint jars and give as gifts. Decorate the pots as described for the mixture of hot chocolate.
