Need recipes for children to make their own seasonings for nuts especially sunflower seeds and peanuts . Cooks everywhere we need your help no matter how corny. The money raised will go to the charity that the children pick.This is a lesson on giving to others for children.Plus it’s fun for them to eat
When seasoning nuts you can either do sweet or savory nuts.
Here’s a recipe for:
Cinnamon Toasted Nuts
1 cup almonds
1 cup hazel nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
preheat oven to 350.
Place nuts in baking pan in one layer & sprinkle the cinnamon over them.
Place in oven for 15 minutes,stirring @ 5 minute intervals.
Spicy Caramelized Pecans
2 cups pecan halves
Water to cover
2 Tablsp. butter
3 Tablsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne
Place pecans in a skillet with enough water to cover and bring to a simmer over high heat. As soon as they simmer remove and drain and set aside.
Melt butter in a large skillet,remove from heat and stir in sugar,salt & cayenne. Then add nuts to coat.
Return nuts to med-hi heat and cook and toss until they turn a caramel color.
Remove from heat and spread out on a platter to cool
